Committee Information & Responsibilities

1. Membership

• Eight to 10 members
• At least three commissioners (one to serve as moderator) appointed by the Moderator’s Committee
• Other members to be appointed by the committee
• Total membership to include
• At least three racial ethnic persons
• At least two campus ministers/chaplains

2. Term

• One-year term
• No member shall serve for more than six consecutive years

3. Areas of Ministry

• Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)-related colleges
• Ecumenical and Presbyterian campus ministries
• New ministries

4. Responsibilities

• Oversee campus ministries at colleges and universities in the Synod of the Covenant
• Support campus ministers through regular contact and annual gatherings
• Distribute funds equitably among ministries in higher education throughout the synod
• Administer the racial ethnic scholarship program
• Explore needs and developing areas of ministry
• Share information synod wide with the assistance of the synod staff
• Monitor expenditures and financial status of each ministry area
• Evaluate all ministry areas annually
• Submit an annual budget request to the Budget & Finance Committee
