Teaching Elder Sharon Moore began serving as the Stated Clerk of the Synod of the Covenant in October, 2020. An energetic native of Detroit, MI, Sharon Moore is a passionate social justice advocate with more than 20 years of legal and litigation experience. Beginning her professional career in international business Sharon quickly developed skills in negotiation and dispute resolution.  Her expertise grew after moving to the nonprofit sector functioning as the Settlement Monitor of $14 million class-action agreement. Through further education Sharon now possesses tax law expertise as a compliment to business acumen.

Recognized among peers as a creative thinker, a smart strategist and an empathetic communicator able to inspire. Skilled in coaching with demonstrated dexterity in becoming a subject matter expert on key issues, providing guidance for jury trial, acceptable demand levels to negotiate settlement of cases and well effectuated anticipation of overall needs for client satisfaction.

A lifelong member of St. John’s Presbyterian Church in Detroit, Sharon is grateful for every opportunity to move “faith-first” into issues, challenges, and endeavors. It is true—those that wait upon God get fresh strength.
