Scripture is filled with people and their stories. And yet, often when we preach, we examine the text, looking for a concept or lesson to apply to the lives of our listeners. While this can be a meaningful way to interact with scripture, could there be another style that might enliven the passage and bridge the divide from the First Century hearer to today’s listener? Together, in this workshop, we will experience an alternative method of encountering stories in scripture. By following a variation of Midrashic interpreting style, we will look at Biblical narrative allowing the characters to be multi-dimensional people with concerns, fears, and emotional needs. The workshop will focus on stories in the Gospels and include content, imagination, and interaction.
