Bio: Daryl R. Van Tongeren, Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology and the Director of the Frost Center for Social Science Research at Hope College. In 2011, he completed a Ph.D. in experimental social psychology at Virginia Commonwealth University. He is interested in deep and enduring questions about the human condition. He employs experimental methods to investigate meaning in life, religion and identity, and virtues. He has written books on suffering (The Courage to Suffer), humility (Humble: Free Yourself from the Traps of a Narcissistic World), and most recently, the religiously unaffiliated (Done: How to Flourish after Leaving Religion).
