Grants Committee Minutes – June 23, 2021

Present: Betty Angelini, Chair; Lisa Allgood, Amy Duiker, Jackie Humphries, Skip Jackson, Georgia McCall Excused; Chip Hardwick, Fran Lane Lawrence, Brady Radford

Lisa opened the meeting with prayer.

Minutes from April and May 21 were approved. Educational Scholarships:

  • Amount available to award is $37,000
  • Team working on this portion of charge is:
    • Lisa, faciliatator
    • Skip
    • Georgia
  • At the recommendation of the review team, the group voted unanimously to award 54 scholarships for a total of $37,000 in the following breakdown:
    • 6 Associate Degree awards @ $500/award
    • 40 Bachelor Degree awards @$650/award
    • 8 Seminary Master awards @ $1,000/award
  • Betty and Lisa will work with Chip and Heather about technology issues:
    • Georgia not being able to review all grants
    • Uploading difficulties by applicants
  • Skip suggested PR release to accompany checks-Chip and Betty will work on this
  • Group will report in fall about suggestions for next cycle

Church Grants-$50,000 to award

  • Application will be posted by August 1, 2021
    • Sub group has meeting scheduled to revise and present to full group in July
  • Grant writing seminar-action pending

Betty reported that all recipients had received report form. Waiting from Synod office to receive link to compiled reports. More details at next meeting.
