The Synod is excited to open our search for a full-time Associate Executive for Racial Justice. We find ourselves in the midst of a creative, regenerative and exciting time, in which we seek to meet old and new challenges with a sense of holy imagination, collaboration and the hope of the resurrection promise. One of the opportunities before us is to build on a legacy of centering the concerns and the witness of communities of color (a spirit in which our Synod was founded many decades ago). Our intention is to reinstate and expand a network of connection supporting our communities of color, also referred to as racial ethnic congregations in our denomination, building power among them for the work of the Gospel; and to invite others into justice-seeking and community-renewing intercultural relationships across the Synod. We seek a competent, creative and faithful individual to lead this work.
This position will help us live into our vision for 2025-28: “In our Synod, we’ll try anything to equip leaders who are attending to God’s creative, emerging future.” It will also strengthen our work toward our Ministry Focus Areas:
Supporting and Equipping Leadership for the Church
Strengthening Our Most Vulnerable Congregations
Developing Anti-Racist Practices and Structures
Eradicating Systemic Poverty
Connecting Synods, Presbyteries, Churches, and Leaders
